Taking control of your own happiness

I do know this is easier said than done, however, there are variables in life that you can control and those that you cannot. Right now, I can’t do anything about the never ending lockdowns and restrictions but what I could change was my environment, routine and job that I wasn’t happy in.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve recently moved city. This is the first time I’ve moved out (not counting the months backpacking) and I am already learning a lot. Due to the move, I now have my independence back. I knew I needed to make an environmental change to be happier and without the ability to travel, this was my backup option. I can’t say it’s everything I hoped for as we cannot socialise but living with people my age and being in a city centre has done wonders for my mental state.

Not only this, today marks the first day of my new job as a Project/Contract Manager. I continue to feel the well known impostor syndrome (like I’m not good enough for the job) but each time I remind myself I am fully capable and breakdown the ‘why’ to remember why I wanted this job, the positives and development routes – let’s hope it works out better than the last job.

My 2021 Goals

I never set New Year’s resolutions as I don’t think it makes sense only making changes once a year, however, I have got continuous goals that I want to implement in to my daily routine:

  • Daily reading of personal development books.
  • Chasing my highest excitement – do what makes me happy each day!
  • Continue learning Spanish with the long term aim to become close to fluent.
  • Positive affirmations to remind myself I am capable of smashing what I put my mind to.
  • Daily exercise.

Hopefully implementing some/all of these activities each day will help be have a more positive 2021 and be a better influence to all those around me.

Please let me know your 2021 goals in the comments!
